Leader's Guide: Wild at Heart

A comprehensive week-by-week guide for running a deep, 2-hour brotherhood gathering.

Deep Gathering Structure (120 Mins)

The Goal: We are not here to transfer information. We are here to awaken hearts. As the leader, your primary job is to create a radically safe environment where men can drop their masks.

  • 0. Zero Hour (30 Mins Before):
Arrive early. Walk the room and pray over the seats. Clear physical distractions (bad lighting, messy tables). Text any brothers who have been quiet this week and say, "I'm saving a seat for you tonight." Review the 'Leader Focus' for this week's chapter so your mind is locked in.
  • 1. Arrival & Brotherhood (20 Mins):
Don't rush this. Men arrive carrying the weight of their week. Ask them: "What was your highest high and lowest low this week?" Start the official session with a strong, grounding prayer claiming authority over the space.
  • 2. The Word & The Truth (20 Mins):
Read the assigned Scripture out loud. Ask one man to read it a second time. Then, read the Core Truth for the week. Ask the group: "What stirs in you when you hear those words? Resistance? Hope? Fear?"
  • 3. The Deep Dive Discussion (60 Mins):
This is the core. Use the Field Manual questions from the Curriculum page.
Leader Coaching: Embrace awkward silence. Men often need 15+ seconds to process deep questions. Do not jump in to "rescue" the silence. If a question is vulnerable, you must answer it first. You set the ceiling for vulnerability.
  • 4. Ministry & Activation Prayer (20 Mins):
Don't just say a quick closing prayer. Break into groups of 2 or 3. Have men pray specifically for the wounds or battles discussed that night. Challenge them to physically put a hand on a brother's shoulder. Remind them to mark the chapter as "Complete" on their Dashboard.

Week-by-Week Curriculum Guide

Week 1 | Date: [_______]

Ch 1: A Question of the Heart

Core Truth: Every man's heart was made for adventure, battle, and beauty.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 20:1 · Psalm 18:32–34 · John 10:10

Leader Focus: Establish safety. The men are stepping into the unknown. Focus entirely on awakening desire tonight. Don't let them complain about their wives or jobs. Keep pulling them back to: "What did you dream of as a boy? What makes you feel alive?"

Week 2 | Date: [_______]

Ch 2: The Wild Heart

Core Truth: God is not tame. He is a warrior... and our hearts are wild too.

Scripture: Exodus 15:3 · Psalm 144:1 · Zephaniah 3:17

Leader Focus: Deconstruct the "Mr. Rogers" version of Jesus. Many men are bored in church because they've been told to neuter themselves. Provoke them: ask where they have felt forced to "tame" their masculine strength in order to be a "good Christian."

Week 3 | Date: [_______]

Ch 3: The Wound

Core Truth: Every man carries a wound that says, "You don't have what it takes."

Scripture: Isaiah 61:1–3 · Psalm 34:18 · Luke 4:18

CRITICAL LEADER FOCUS: This is a make-or-break week. You MUST go first. Look the men in the eye and share your deepest father-wound or failure. If you give a shallow answer, they will give shallow answers. Do not let men intellectualize or make excuses for their fathers. Force them to name the wound.

Week 4 | Date: [_______]

Ch 4: The Poser

Core Truth: We build a false self to protect our wound.

Scripture: Psalm 51:6 · John 8:32 · Galatians 2:20

Leader Focus: Challenge the men to drop the mask. Identify your own "Poser" out loud (e.g., "I play the funny guy to avoid real intimacy"). Ask the group to gently point out the masks they see in each other. It requires immense trust, but it builds unbreakable bonds.

Week 5 | Date: [_______]

Ch 5: The Battle

Core Truth: We are at war. Ignoring the battle doesn't make us safe, it makes us casualties.

Scripture: Ephesians 6:10–18 · 1 Peter 5:8 · 2 Corinthians 10:3–5

Leader Focus: Shift the perspective from guilt to warfare. Help men realize that their repetitive sins or deep discouragements aren't just them being "bad"—they are under targeted spiritual assault. End this gathering by actively praying on the armor of God over each man.

Week 6 | Date: [_______]

Ch 6: The Father's Voice

Core Truth: Only the Father can answer the question: "Do I have what it takes?"

Scripture: Matthew 3:17 · Romans 8:14–17 · Zephaniah 3:17

Leader Focus: This week is about sonship. Have the men spend 5-10 minutes of total silence during the meeting, asking God: "Father, what do you say about me?" Have them share what they heard.

Week 7 | Date: [_______]

Ch 7: Healing the Wound

Core Truth: Healing requires bringing the wound fully into the light.

Scripture: Isaiah 53:4–5 · Psalm 147:3 · James 5:16

Leader Focus: Focus heavily on the mechanics of forgiveness. Teach them that forgiveness is a choice, not an emotion. Have them verbally, out loud, forgive the men who wounded them (especially their fathers) during the prayer time.

Week 8 | Date: [_______]

Ch 8: A Battle to Fight

Core Truth: Every man needs a battle worthy of his strength.

Scripture: Nehemiah 4:14 · 1 Corinthians 16:13 · 2 Timothy 4:7

Leader Focus: Pivot from internal healing to external mission. Help men identify what they are fighting FOR in their families, churches, or communities. Do not let them give vague answers. Pin them down to specifics.

Week 9 | Date: [_______]

Ch 9: The Adventure of Life

Core Truth: The invitation is to stop managing your life and start living God's adventure.

Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11 · Proverbs 16:9 · Hebrews 11:8

Leader Focus: Call out the control freaks (lovingly). Where are men playing it safe because they demand a guaranteed outcome? Encourage Spirit-led risk-taking this week. Ask them what "jumping out of the boat" looks like for them right now.

Week 10 | Date: [_______]

Ch 10: A Beauty to Rescue

Core Truth: A man comes alive when he offers his strength for someone else's good.

Scripture: Ephesians 5:25–27 · John 15:13 · Song of Solomon 2:4

Leader Focus: Confront how men misuse their strength (aggression, control, or total withdrawal). Discuss what it means to fiercely pursue their wives or children without dominating them.

Week 11 | Date: [_______]

Ch 11: Writing a New Story

Core Truth: The old story doesn't have to define what comes next.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17 · Romans 12:2 · Colossians 3:9–10

Leader Focus: This is a week of repentance and covenant. Have the men verbally renounce the agreements they made with their past. Write down specific commitments for the new man they are choosing to be.

Week 12 | Date: [_______]

Ch 12: Walking with God

Core Truth: The goal of the entire journey is intimacy with God.

Scripture: Micah 6:8 · John 15:4–5 · Galatians 5:25

Leader Focus: The final summit. Go around the room and have every man state the #1 thing God changed in them over the last 12 weeks. Spend the last 30 minutes in a circle, laying hands on each man and commissioning them into the wild. Establish exactly how this brotherhood will stay in contact.
